Technical purpose of product or process Door air curtains are used for controlled screening of air-conditioned premises with open doors and industrial doorways. They create a comfortable indoor climate and minimise energy loss.
Classification
Class name : Hierarchy level
  • The International EPD System: Construction products, Infrastructure & buildings
General comment on data set Cut-off rules: ≥ 99% per unit process and ≥ 95% per life-cycle stage (mass/energy/impact); any exclusions are documented in the LCA report.Infrastructure and capital goods: Infrastructure/capital goods are excluded from all foreground modelling; any residual contributions within generic background datasets (ecoinvent 3.10) are <5%.Negative values for both ‘Use of net fresh water (FW)’ and ‘Water deprivation potential (WDP)’ originate from the ecoinvent dataset for hot-dip galvanised steel. These values reflect avoided freshwater consumption and avoided water scarcity impacts associated with recycling of steel and zinc, embedded in the dataset according to the cut-off modelling approach. This behaviour is methodologically consistent with EN 15804+A2 and does not represent physical water generation.

Technology description including background system The product is a door air curtain, used for controlled screening of air-conditioned premises with open doors and industrial doorways. The main components include a radial fan, a heat exchanger, an air inlet grille with filter and an outlet air rectifier. The manufacturing process consists of metalworking, heat exchanger production and the assembly of the fan and other components. Pre-products include various types of metal and plastics.During the construction process stage, the unit is transported to the site and installed without additional structural requirements. In the use stage, the door air curtain ensures continuous operation with regular replacement of components such as fan, valves and PCB. At end-of-life, the main materials (steel, copper, aluminum) can be separated and recycled, while plastics are mainly incinerated and other materials are disposed of through established waste treatment systems.
